Training Groups for Therapists and Therapists-in-training
I run two weekly Modern Analytic training groups with Pierre Choucroun, Ph.D., LPC-S, CGP:
Tuesday, 12:30-2 pm (Weekly on Zoom. We will likely meet once yearly in person on a Saturday in Austin. Those who can’t attend can join remotely).
Wednesday, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm (Zoom, with occasional in-person or hybrid meetings)
What is a Training Group?
This group focuses on thriving in private practice and other professional settings and is open to all experience levels. Topics of focus include consultation; building and maintaining a practice you love; expanding your emotional capacity; and enhancing your ability to work effectively with transference, aggression, desire, defenses, resistance, money, and your own feelings. You will better understand yourself and how your history impacts your relationship with your work. We also discuss issues that have arisen since the pandemic, including how to work boldly and effectively via telehealth, navigating clients’ resistance, marketing your practice remotely, and maintaining your health and stamina.
The training group provides an opportunity to work hard with other dedicated clinicians and to develop a robust referral network. I have experienced the impact of being part of a close professional community. It provides fuel and inspiration for the work, and I am excited to offer this opportunity to other clinicians.
